Marvel Studios has just dropped an electrifying new trailer for Thunderbolts during the 2025 Super Bowl, giving fans their most action-packed look yet at the MCU’s team of antiheroes.

Following the recent reveal of The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer, Marvel continues to build anticipation for Phase 5, this time showcasing the chaotic yet thrilling dynamics of Thunderbolts. The latest footage confirms that when Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are unavailable, it’s up to this unconventional squad to step in and save the world.

Thunderbolts Rise as the Avengers’ Unexpected Replacements

The trailer kicks off with Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) addressing a courtroom, delivering the ominous message: “The Avengers aren’t coming.” With no superheroes left to defend humanity, she assembles a ragtag group of antiheroes—some of whom have rather questionable pasts—to take on an impending global threat.

Despite their less-than-heroic reputations, the Thunderbolts begin to wrestle with their own morality. In a key moment, Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) sarcastically asks, “None of us can fly… so we all just punch and shoot?”

Explosive Action and a Mysterious Villain Await

The trailer is packed with high-octane action, showcasing intense fight sequences, dramatic car flips, and large-scale explosions. However, the real intrigue comes with the reveal of the film’s potential antagonist: Sentry. The footage hints at a dangerous mission, forcing the team to confront not only their enemies but also their own dark pasts.

A Star-Studded Cast Brings the Thunderbolts to Life

Marvel’s Thunderbolts unites some of the MCU’s most complex characters, led by:

  • Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova
  • Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier)
  • David Harbour as Red Guardian
  • Wyatt Russell as John Walker (U.S. Agent)
  • Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster
  • Lewis Pullman as Bob/Sentry
  • Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr (Ghost)

Julia Louis-Dreyfus reprises her role as Valentina, assembling the squad for a classified government mission.

Sebastian Stan recently praised Florence Pugh’s performance in the film, a sentiment she found deeply meaningful. Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, she shared, “I was very, very chuffed that he said that about me. When people you admire and respect say wonderful things, it fills you with confidence and makes the experience even more special.”

Marvel’s 2025 Superhero Lineup Heats Up

Thunderbolts is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2025, following the release of Captain America: Brave New World. Fans won’t have to wait long for more superhero action, as The Fantastic Four: First Steps will land in theaters just two months later in July.

With Marvel’s Phase 5 shaping up to be one of its most exciting yet, Thunderbolts is poised to deliver a unique and gritty take on the superhero genre, proving that even antiheroes can rise to the occasion when the world needs saving.
